In regards to that fact that I don't remember our house being messy yet didn't recall my mom cleaning mentioned in the previous post:
I called my mom today and she pointed out to me that for many years my grandmother, her mother-in-law, lived with us and she guesses that's why the house was in order. She had help. She also mentioned the fact that she learned to put things away immediately. Mystery solved.
My house is always clean when my mother-in-law is here, too! So I just need to convince her to move in for the rest of her life! :-)
