time to guess where Alex will be going on his mission!

First off, Happy Birthday yesterday to my brother, Kyle, and my father-in-law! Hope you both had a wonderful day!

Alex had his final interview Wednesday night and Friday morning we got the word that his mission application papers had been submitted to Salt Lake. Thomas, his cousin, and Jane, a former seminary student of mine, also had their papers submitted at the same time. Exciting times for our ward and family!

So, you get 2 choices at to where Alex will be called--choose one within the United States and then a foreign country. Alex is hoping for a foreign country, preferably Spanish speaking, and he guesses Uruguay (my mission) and for state-side, he says Michigan (Glen's mission).

The shortest turn around we've seen lately is 6 days, though it probably won't be that soon. Get your guesses in! You can message me on facebook, email them to us, or put them in the blog comments.

I chose North Carolina and Portugal (I usually chose Portugal when asked to guess and I haven't been right yet).

Glen says Pennsylvania and New Zealand.

Congratulations to Thomas who received his endowments in the Reno temple yesterday (so now he can attend Sarah and Luke's temple wedding this coming Saturday in the Reno temple!). Alex will be going relatively soon, though a date hasn't been set yet. I personally don't have a good photo...but here's Eric taking a photo...

Hannah and Kaellen moved to Utah on Monday. It's a sad/happy thing. We lost a daughter and son-in-law, but gained a good vacuum cleaner (they bought one for us to say thanks for letting them stay here). Thanks!

And in less exciting news, the first week of summer vacation was spent by Glen trying to fix our dryer (which is literally in pieces all over the house) and in doing service projects for several groups. My main task of the week was spring cleaning.

Looking forward to the second week of summer vacation!

musical, Memorial Day, Alex, World Milk Day

Eric, Hannah, and Kaellen were in a musical week before last. "Is There Life After High School?" was a project for Glen's principal, who is working on getting his Masters Degree in directing. Everyone in it had a solo, plus sang other songs, of course. They sounded great. Glen donned dirty coveralls to sweep the Homecoming Queen's confetti off the stage during intermission. Opportunities for photos were limited as you can't use flash photography. I had to wait for people to be still...

Glen played the custodian part well

As always, for Memorial Day, the Perazzo clan met at the local cemetery to visit the graves of Glen's family. It was a bit chilly, but really nice. We ended at Adam's grave. Today marks 7 years since he passed away. Michael and his wife, Alicia, came over with pineapple cake this afternoon in remembrance of Adam (pineapple was his favorite). Miss you, Adam!

Congratulations, Glen, on finishing your 30th year teaching! Thirty down, one to go!

Graduation was Friday night, but Alex (who had finished his school work in December) didn't want to walk. He helped Glen pass out the National Honor Society stoles--of which he would have worn if he had walked.

Alex had the 2nd highest GPA in the school. If he hadn't finished early, he would have been the Valedictorian (Stephanie Therianos beat him out because she had more honors/AP classes than he did by going one more semester than he did). He says he only regrets that a tiny bit.

They had the 2 Valedictorians speak...the high school's Valedictorian, Stephanie, and the Jump Start Valedictorian, Lauryn Mulac. Lauryn, one of Glen's drama students, was in the Jump Start program, meaning that she earned her Associates at WNC during her Junior and Senior years of high school.

So the three of us sat in the teachers' seats just behind the graduates, which are the best seats in the house. It was nice. And the weather cooperated. We had had a rain storm that afternoon, but it had cleared up by graduation time.
yeah, no gown, cap, or tassel for Alex and he was fine with that

might as well wear a NHS stole for a minute

Glen, as he does every year, helped guide the graduates to their proper seats
the Navy is always kind enough to do a fly-by for graduation

Yesterday was World Milk Day. There were farm tours at the Perazzo Brothers Dairy all day. Eric donned the Cowabunga suit and did a great job...it was going to be Glen, but one second with the cow head on had him feeling claustrophobic and he immediately called Eric in as his replacement. The dairy had a steady stream of visitors (about 350) who got ice cream along with the tour (which included milking a fake cow). Good times.

Alex has his interview with the Stake President this Wednesday and his mission papers should be able to be submitted after that. It won't be much longer now and we'll know where and when he'll be sent!

Alex's Eagle Court of Honor was finally scheduled. It will be Tuesday night, June 11th. Other details have not been decided on, but he is sharing it with another boy and both are pretty low-key and don't want much (actually, Logan didn't even want to have a Court of Honor in the first place and Alex would have been okay with that as well).

And tomorrow, Hannah and Kaellen will be moving to Utah. Besides the summer she spent in Oregon with my parents, she has never lived farther away than Reno. I will really miss having them so close.

There is nothing so constant as change, and that's okay. Progress is good.
