On Wednesday night, the school board recognized the math students for their performance in the math competition. There was an article in the newspaper this week that talked about it:
Churchill County High School math students grab first-place awards for northern Nevada
The Churchill County School
District Board of Trustees met Wednesday and recognized high school
students who competed in the Northern Nevada Math Contest in Reno on
Jan. 28.
Churchill County High School students
included Ian Blodgett, Shelby Chitren, Thomas Jamieson, Alex Perazzo and
John Solomon. Competing against several high schools, the students came
away with first place wins in Algebra 1, Algebra 2, team and
comprehensive higher math competitions.
One student [John Solomon] said Blodgett and Perazzo
specifically deserved another shoutout: Perazzo scored a 17 in one
competition with the next highest score being 14 — far surpassing the
competition....
The weather is still crazy. Hannah was subbing at Bordertown on north 395 last Thursday. The wind was so bad that the buses couldn't come up the hill and get the students. They had to wait for all the parents to come and sign their kids out. That took a few hours. She then spent that night at a friend's house who lived just 10 minutes away so that she didn't have to drive on that windy hill. School wound up being cancelled the next day.
I took a few photos of a rainbow in Fallon the other day.
I'm making some progress in my family history by finding 3 unknown marriages, and that's always exciting to find new stuff...especially when you didn't know it was there to find. The RootsTech Conference was amazing and I learned several things that should prove helpful.
We are enjoying a few days on "dry" weather...there's still plenty of mud around and rain is due again on Thursday. The flooding in surrounding areas is astounding, but we haven't had that problem here.
